Durban, June 25 (DPA) Portugal played a scoreless draw with Brazil Friday to advance along with the South Americans to the knockout stage of the football World Cup from Group G.
Ivory Coast beat North Korea 3-0 in the other Group B match but it was not enough and they became the fifth African nation to be sent packing.
The North Koreans were also eliminated after finishing at the bottom of the group with the worst record of any of the 32 teams that took part in the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
Brazil had qualified prior to Friday’s game and finished top of the table on seven points, two more than Portugal and three more than Ivory Coast.
