Rio de Janerio, April 9 (IANS) The local organisers of Rio 2016 Olympic Games unveiled a laboratory that will test equipment used to beam real-time information during the Games, a media report said on Thursday.

Operated by global digital services provider Atos – an official Olympic partner – the facility, unveiled on Wednesday, will be integrated with scoring and timing systems for competition venues, according to Rio2016.com.
During the Games, the equipment will process data such as results, medal tables, athlete profiles and schedules, Xinhua reported.
It will then deliver the information to television broadcasters and internet service providers in less than a second.
“In a high-technology world, we need to be up to date with what is the most modern,” Rio 2016 CEO Sidney Levy said.
The laboratory’s equipment will undergo 200,000 hours of simulations and system testing ahead of the Games.
Atos will also process 300,000 accreditation passes for the Games, including those for athletes.
