Singapore, June 20 (IANS) India’s top shuttler Saina Nehwal beat Tzu Ying Tai of Chinese Taipei 21-18, 21-15 to win the Singapore Open Super Series badminton tournament here Sunday.
This is Saina’s second Super series title since winning last year’s Indonesian Open, which she will be defending next week.
Top seeded Saina, ranked sixth in the world, had been in irresistible form in the tournament and had upset world champion Lu lan of China in the semifinals.
In the title clash Sunday, Saina was given a tough challenge by the unseeded 16-year-old Tzu Ying Tai before the Indian, relying on her experience, tamed her.
