London, Jan 30 (IANS) Singer Sam Smith wants everyone to stop calling him the male version of Adele.
The 22-year-old, who graces the latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine, said he’s “annoyed” with the comparisons to the “Someone Like You” hitmaker, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“We’re very different, and I feel like the constant comparisons might piss her off. It just annoys me that people can’t digest two pop stars singing really personal songs who don’t look like normal pop stars,” he said.
Further Smith said that he doesn’t mind losing a Grammy Award to Beyonce Knowles.
The “Stay With Me” hitmaker, who has been a huge fan of Knowles, currently has his “In the Lonely Hour” pitted against other albums including Knowles’ self-titled set in the coveted Album of the Year category at the forthcoming awards event.
Smith said that he’ll be “embarrassed” if he wins the title over her.
“She deserves it way more than I do. I’d be embarrassed if I got it over her,” he said.
