Los Angeles, July 14 (IANS) Hollywood actor Sean Penn has received a knighthood in recognition of his work to boost relief efforts in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake in Haiti in January.
He was among 23 people, including former US president Bill Clinton and CNN reporter Anderson Cooper, knighted by Haitian President Rene Preval in Port-Au-Prince Monday, reports imdb.com.
They were presented with medals and certificates.
The ‘Milk’ star has been a regular visitor to Haiti and a major part of the recovery effort, helping to set up relief camps for more than 1.5 million Haitians still homeless six months after the quake.
