Islamabad, March 21 (IANS) At least seven militants were killed and five injured in military airstrikes in Pakistan’s Tirrah valley on Saturday.
The militants were killed when Pakistani military jets targeted hideouts of banned outfits, The Dawn online reported citing security forces.
Local sources said that for the past couple of days, hideouts of banned outfits were being targeted by airstrikes.
Tirrah valley is known to be the home of militants of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and an allied group called the Lashkar-i-Islam.
It is located in Khyber, Kurram and Orakzai agencies (tribal areas) of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan.
The airstrikes came amid the ongoing Khyber-One operation launched by the Pakistani military in Khyber region and are part of the military’s heightened efforts since TTP terrorists attacked the Army Public School in Peshawar in December last year.
