Beijing, May 31 (IANS) Six people have died and seven fell seriously ill after they ate poisonous plants by mistake in China’s northwestern Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, local government officials said Monday.
The victims in Sunday’s incident were all workers at an iron mine in Toli county, Xinhua quoted a county government spokesman as saying.
The workers fell ill after they ate herbs mistaking them for celery, he said.
Four people died on the way to hospital, while two others failed to respond to treatment and died Sunday night.
