Makhachkala (Russia), Aug 13 (RIA Novosti) Six people, including four police personnel and two civilians, were killed in an attack on a police post in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan Thursday, an interior ministry official said.
“Unidentified gunmen with automatic weapons opened fire at a police post killing four officers. Two women who worked at a nearby sauna also came under fire, they died at the scene,” the official said.
He said the attack occurred near the Caspian Sea town of Buinaksk at about 9:30 p.m. and investigators are working at the site, he added.
Dagestan and its North Caucasus neighbour Chechnya have been destabilised by frequent militant attacks on police and other officials.
