Lisbon, April 20 (IANS) Sporting beat Boavista 2-1 in the 29th round of the Portuguese league at Alvalade Stadium here.
Sporting opened scoring in the first minute through midfielder Adrien. Boavista’s Portuguese player Ze Manuel equalised in the 7th minute with a header following a pass by Brazilian forward Leozinho on Sunday, reports Xinhua.
Just before the end of first half Sporting’s midfielder Tobias Figueiredo was expelled with a red card after he tumbled Leozinhon near the penalty area.
The 10-man Sporting managed to score again in the 65th minute by Algerian forward Slimani with a header.
Sporting remains third in the Portuguese league with 63 points, while Boavista stands 13th with 29 points.
Also on Saturday, Penafiel lost to Arouca 0-2, P.Ferreira tied Moreirense 0-0 and Gil Vicente tied Rio Ave 0-0 while V.Setubal lost to Estoril 1-2.
