Islamabad, April 6 (IANS) Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and visiting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday announced the signing of six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries.

Sirisena arrived in Islamabad on Sunday at the invitation of President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Sharif. This is his first visit to Pakistan.
Sharif said both the countries signed six agreements to enhance cooperation in the fields of sports, shipping, tourism, economic development, anti-narcotics, defence and disaster management, Radio Pakistan reported.
He said these agreements will pave the way for expanding bilateral ties further.
Moreover, an agreement signed between the two countries is expected to enhance bilateral trade to $1 billion per annum.
Sirisena welcomed Pakistani investment in his country and also urged Pakistan International Airlines to recommence flights to Sri Lanka.
Sirisena invited Sharif to visit Colombo for further cementing Pakistan–Sri Lanka ties.
