Karachi, July 20 (IANS) Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf feels the Twenty20 format is damaging Test cricket.

‘Test cricket is being affected by Twenty20 because it is attracting youngsters, which is not in the best interest of the game,’ Yousuf was quoted as saying by InfoT20.com.

The batting maestro said the format is all about hitting and the technique has nothing to do with this style of the game.

‘Players just come and try to hit, it’s not the game we know since decades. I am not asking to stop Twenty20, my point is the format should not be given hype as it is getting these days,’ he said.

Yousuf is one of the world’s most prolific batsmen in Test and one-day cricket but he has never been considered for national duty in the Twenty20 format. However, Yousuf did feature in T20 games in the rebel Indian Cricket League for a couple of seasons.
