Beijing, March 31 (IANS) Three Chinese men were Saturday charged with bombing a bank in a robbery attempt in which two people were killed and more than 10 wounded in December.
Wang Haijian, Wang Wei and Wang An’an were charged with endangering public security in Wuhan in central Hubei province, Xinhua reported.
Prosecutors at a court in Wuhan said the three set off a bomb in front of a branch of the state-owned China Construction Bank in Wuhan Dec 1, 2011.
Wang Haijian had been making explosive devices since October 2010 and was joined by the other two in plotting a bank robbery in July 2011.
The bomb, hidden in the pavement in front of the bank, was detonated when clerks were about to load money into a bank vehicle.
The bombing killed two people on the spot and caused financial losses of about 127,000 yuan (over $20,000), prosecutors said.
The suspects face life in prison or even a death sentence.
