New Delhi, April 10 (Inditop.com) Three men have been arrested here for sending Indians to Malta and other European countries by obtaining visas on the basis of forged documents, police said Saturday.

Viraj Gupta, 39, Pinkesh Devda, 36, and Harminder Singh Bal, 37, were taken into custody Friday from south Delhi’s Mehrauli area.

“They were sending people to Malta and other European countries on the basis of Schengen visas obtained through fraudulent means. We have recovered 19 passports, Rs.9 lakh, two laptops, forged documents, a car and other incriminating material from them,” Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) Neeraj Thakur said.

“They used to lure unemployed youth, mainly from Punjab. The gang obtained about 175 Schengen visas through fraudulent means in the last six to seven months,” he added.
