Islamabad, Aug 6 (IANS) Three people were killed Friday after a protest against power failure turned violent in the northwestern region of Pakistan.
Hundreds of people, protesting and shouting slogans against the government, became violent in Swabi district when police tried to stop them from destroying official record and furniture of the electricity department, Xinhua reported, citing local media reports.
‘Demonstrators attacked police and also opened fire when we arrested their leader. Three people were killed and three injured,’ said a local police official.
