Tokyo, Dec 10 (DPA) Stocks in Tokyo lost ground in Friday morning trading following profit-taking as the benchmark Nikkei index opened at a seven-month high.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average was down 44.18 points, or 0.43 percent to trade at 10,241.7, while the broader Topix index declined 2.17 points, or 0.24 percent, to 889.43.
Shares of major exporters traded lower as investors sold shares to lock in profits.
On currency markets at 9 a.m. (0000 GMT), the dollar traded at 83.82-84 yen, almost unchanged from Thursday’s quote of 83.81-82 yen.
The euro traded at $1.3239-42, from $1.3306-07, and at 110.99-111.02 yen, down from 111.52-56 yen the previous day.
