Abu Dhabi, July 22 (IANS/WAM) Dedicated to promoting the country’s heritage and celebrating the harvesting of dates, the ongoing annual Liwa Date Festival in the UAE has been attracting thousands of visitors, the organizers said Thursday.

The festival is organized by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) in Al Gharbia in western UAE. It will end July 26.

Cultural programmes and traditional handcraft exhibitions are being organized on the occasion.

‘We are encouraging people to visit this unique event and take part in the multi-cultural activities. Our gift to them is just a sample test of UAE’s authentic traditions,’ said Ahmed Abdullah Al Hamadi, a member of one of the organizing committees.
