New Delhi, April 5 (Inditop.com) US ambassador Timothy J. Roemer Monday met Home Minister P. Chidambaram and discussed issues relating to access to American-Pakistani terrorist David Coleman Headley, who has confessed to plotting the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
“The government of India and the government of the US work closely to prevent terror attacks from wherever they come from,” Roemer said after meeting Chidambaram.
“This is an issue that has been discussed at the highest levels,” the envoy said when asked about India’s request for “full access” to Headley for his role in the Mumbai attacks.
Chidambaram has said many times recently that India wanted access to Headley, who scouted for locations in Mumbai and other places in India for terror attacks.
US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake Friday had said that while the US was committed to “full information sharing,” no decision had been made on direct access to Headley for Indian investigators.
