Caracas, Nov 28 (IANS/EFE) Venezuela’s state-run film studio has made its first action movie, marking its debut in the genre after producing 14 historical films.
‘Muerte en Alto Contraste’ (Death in High Contrast), a feature-length film, directed by Cesar Bolivar and financed by government-run Villa del Cine Foundation, tells the story of Gabriel, played by Erich Wildpret, a member of a police tactical unit who decides to take justice into his own hands to avenge the murder of his parents.
A journalist assists Gabriel in his revenge plot by helping him penetrate the criminal network responsible for his parents’ deaths.
‘Muerte en Alto Contraste’ also stars actress Norelys Rodriguez.
The Villa del Cine Foundation was established in 2006 by President Hugo Chavez’s government to revive domestic film production and combat the Hollywood ‘dictatorship’.
It has participated in over 30 artistic and cultural projects and financed 14 films, most of them on historical topics.
