Washington, Oct 4 (DPA) Verizon, the largest US wireless company, says it will refund $50 million or more to customers who were mistakenly charged for data usage on their cell phones, Bloomberg financial news service reported Monday.
The company said it would pay back money to 15 million customers in the next two months. The Federal Communications Commission confirmed to Bloomberg that it has been investigating Verizon for ten months after customers complained about the fees.
The false charges resulted when customers without data plans were charged for sessions they did not initiate, Verizon said. In some cases, customers were charged mistakenly for accessing the internet.
