Hamburg, July 5 (DPA) Serena Williams of the US maintained a big lead in the women’s tennis rankings after her latest Wimbledon title.
Williams has 8,475 points in the list issued Monday, ahead of Serbian Jelena Jankovic (5,900) and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark (5,630).
Williams’ sister Venus dropped from second to fourth after not making the deciding stages at the London Grand Slam. The losing finalist Vera Zvonareva of Russia returned into the top 10, in ninth place from 21st in the previous rankings.
