London, Sep 15 (IANS) A Briton learnt about a 2.6 million pounds lottery win at 7 a.m., but he didn’t share the exciting news with his wife for an hour as she had told him that she doesn’t want to be woken till 8 a.m.
Philip and Sandra Sawyer now plan to buy a house and a new BMW after winning the Lotto jackpot, Daily Express reported Wednesday.
‘I habitually get up at 7 a.m. and make a cup of tea and then check the lottery results. I thought I’d won 10 pounds and then I realised that all six -numbers were there – it was a very good feeling,’ Philip, 60, was quoted as saying.
He was overjoyed on learning about the huge win. Yet he sat down and read a book for an hour before telling Sandra that their lucky dip ticket had won the 2,606,914-pound prize.
Philip then passed on the good news to his two daughters, aged 38 and 39. As part of the family syndicate they will each get 650,000 pounds.
Sawyer told a press conference at Sutton Coldfield Tuesday: ‘I phoned (my daughter) Nicola asking her to call me when she finished work. She did and like her mother, she didn’t believe me.’
